A place to Refresh: Kalilangan Cold Spring

     The new place and pride of Lanao del Norte that captivate the heart of tourist, specially the local tourist.

     Kalilangan Cold Spring is located at Brgy. Kalilangan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. If you came from Iligan or Mukas, it is on the left side of the national highway of tubod, a road going to Magsaysay, Lanao del Norte. From Poblacion Tubod, estimated 10 minutes from the national high way there will be two way road you need to turn to the left, and after 8 minutes another two way road you need to turn to the right and you will see a signage "This way to Kalilangan Cold Spring" and after 5 minutes you will see another signage that welcome you to Kalilangan but you need to pass the 200 meters rough road and you are now ready to swim at the cold spring.

     The water of Kalilangan Cold Spring came from the natural source of water. The water is clean and cold, and you can see the water came from the big rocks.

     There are 2 big pools and 1 medium size pool. The medium size pool have a slide and have no flooring you can feel the stones on your feet which is good for those who have arthritis.

     They have develop a new big pool made for children and also to the big one. The deepest height in the pool is about 4-5 feet, which is still safe.

The MAGELLAN CROSS in Cebu City

     Magellan Cross is another tourist destination in Cebu City. It is situated near the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño in Magallanes Street (Magallanes being the spanish name of Magellan), just in front of the city center of Cebu City.

     The spot is the area where Magellan planted a cross on April 21, 1521 to signify the important event about the propagation of the Roman Catholic faith, in what is now Cebu.

     The original cross was encased in another wood cross made from tindalo wood to protect the original cross from people who chipped away parts of the cross for souvenir and some people believe that the cross possesses miraculous healing power. Now, the cross is secured inside a small chapel called "kiosk".

     When you get inside the chapel you can see some women's wearing yellow dress they are dancing and bringing some colored candles and offer prayers to the tourist.

Taoist Temple: Cebu City Tourist Destination

     Another tourist destination in Cebu City is the Taoist Temple. It is located in Beverly Hills, Lahug, Cebu City. This temple was built in 1972 by the Chinese community in Cebu.

     The place is not recommended to those people who have heart problems because the temple is situated 300 meters above sea level and you need to climb the 81 steps. They said the 81 steps represent the 81 chapters of Taoism scriptures.

     Taoist temple is open to all, worshipers and non-worshipers and no entrance fee. They only ask that you must observe silence inside the temple and they prohibited taking pictures in front of their saints.

     In the temple, you could see a sculpture of a dragon and you can take picture in there, and they also have a small replica of the great wall of China. You can see a beautiful scenery below and the sea in front.

     Actually, this temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teaching of the ancient Chinese Philosopher, Lao Zi.

Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary in Mindanao

     Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area declared by President Fidel V. Ramos in the year 1998. It is located in Bunawan, Province of Agusan del Sur in Mindanao. It has an area of 19,200 hectares (47,440 acres).

     Agusan Marsh is one of the largest and the most contained freshwater catch basin wetland in the Philippines. The Marshland acts like a sponge, as it is nestled in the midwaters of the Agusan River drainage basin. Within its lakes, several floating houses can be found. It is also the place where the largest salt water crocodile named "Lolong" captured.

     The Marsh is a valuable habitat for water birds. When rainy seasons come, the water rise to create large lakes, and vast of ducks come to nest in the area. In dry season, thousand of birds come from Japan, China, and Russia to escape the winter season of Northern Asia.

     Different birds can readily be seen from a boat like wild ducks, heron, egret, kingfisher and some raptors such as the Philippine Serpent-eagle.

     Over 200 individual species have been known to spend at least part of the year in the marsh, making it one of Asia's most important transit points for wild birds.
