Mactan Shrine: A story of Brave Filipino

     Another tourist destination in the Philippines is the Mactan Shrine also known as the Lapu-Lapu Shrine. It is located in Punta Engaño, Mactan Island, Cebu. The shrine was built to commemorate the "Battle of Mactan" in which the spot believed to be the area where the battle of Mactan had taken.

Lapu-Lapu Shrine
      The Lapu-Lapu Shrine is 20 meters high made from bronze. It was made in honor of Datu Lapu-Lapu, a native leader who defeated Spanish soldiers during the Battle of Mactan on 1521.
Magellan Shrine
     In a walking distance you could see the Magellan Shrine. It is a large memorial tower which measures 30 meters high. The spot was believed to be the area were Ferdinand Magellan a Portuguese explorer was killed by Lapu-Lapu during the Battle.
